Krause Law Expands with Two New Lawyers

Krause Law LLC today announces the expansion of its law practice with the addition of two new “of counsel” lawyers: Malika Simmons and James Cole.

Ms. Simmons will focus on entrepreneurial ventures and related business transactions. She has degrees from Washington and Lee School of Law and Brown University (B.A. International Relations). In addition to her practice with Krause Law, Ms. Simmons will continue to serve as Assistant Clinical Professor of Law for the University of Missouri—Kansas City School of Law, where she has taught courses in securities regulation and entrepreneurship, and works with law students in the Entrepreneurial Legal Services Clinic. Ms. Simmons has previously practiced business, corporate and securities law in the Kansas City office of a national law firm, and served as Director of Government Relations for the University of Missouri—Kansas City.

Mr. Cole will serve established business clients as well as emerging business ventures, with an emphasis on maximizing value from their intellectual property assets. He has been educated at Southwestern Law School, Princeton University (M.Div.), Baylor University (B.A. Psychology, minor in Pre-Med Chemistry and Biology) and University of Florida (M.S. 2016 candidate Pharmaceutical Chemistry), and he is licensed to practice law in Missouri and California and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Mr. Cole has previously taught undergraduate courses in comparative religion, philosophy and hermeneutics at Sterling College, and served as a copywriter for college and graduate level biology, chemistry, physics and ethics textbooks.

According to Philip Krause, Krause Law’s founding member, “Malika Simmons and James Cole are exactly the kinds of lawyers Krause Law wants to build its practice around—highly motivated, committed to the best possible legal service and well-educated at the finest schools. With their addition, our services to existing clients will be elevated, and we think new clients will be attracted to the increasing breadth and depth of our firm’s law practice.”

Krause Law is a regional boutique law firm, focusing exclusively on business law services targeted to entrepreneurs who are building innovative new businesses, and to established businesses who need trusted outside general counsel services to pursue their strategic objectives.
